Magic Make No Sound 2022 is DRAP's bold interpretation of Auxerrois, transforming a traditionally delicate grape into a deeply textured orange wine. Sourced from marl and limestone soils in northern Alsace, the wine undergoes an extended skin maceration before a long élevage in barrel, resulting in a wine of remarkable depth, tension and savoury complexity.
Origin: Alsace, France Grapes: 100% Auxerrois Style: Orange wine Year: 2022 Alcohol: 11.5% Vinification: Handpicked Auxerrois from marl and limestone soils. The grapes are crushed and remain on their skins for one month before pressing. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, with red wine lees added to build additional texture and complexity. Bottled after a further year of rest. Unfiltered and made without additives.
Extended skin contact gives the wine its structured, amber character, while the marl-limestone terroir contributes a striking saline freshness. Expect layers of preserved citrus, dried apricot, herbs, tea, gentle spice and a long, savoury finish with fine tannins.
